Anna Wenstedt and Peter Rydberg from the Environmental Administration, City of Gothenburg, were invited by the World Bank to participate in a workshop on climate strategies in Yokohama, Japan, March 23-27.
The World Bank have initiated a training program for people who will lead the development of a climate change strategy, known as the City Climate Planner Professional Certification Program. The aim of the training is that cities should be able to produce even more qualitative climate strategies and strengthen thskills of the staff working on the issues.
The content of the training was developed together with experts on the subject –“that's where we came in, with the experience from developing Gothenburg's climate program”, says Anna Wenstedt. “We particularly raised the perspective of consumption and how we have conducted our estimations in the Climate Strategy’s targets and strategies. We received very fine response from the other participants and a confirmation that Gothenburg is in the frontline when it comes to climate strategic work. We also made a lot of valuable contacts, that hopefully will lead to us learning even more from other cities in the future”.
